Domestic and rural electricians install, repair, test, and service electrical and electronic systems in residential and commercial buildings. They ensure that all electrical connections are safe and meet the electrical code. Electricians install wiring and electrical equipment in buildings before the walls are put into place.
Certification Requirements
Educational Prerequisites
Grade 10 or equivalent.
Note: High school graduation is recommended. Employers often require more than the minimum educational requirements set by the province. They may also prefer apprentices who have taken certain courses related to their program.
