Cooks might work in a team and specialize in preparing only one type of food, or they might be responsible for an entire menu. Some cooks work under a chef or dietitian’s instruction. They have the skills to prepare any type of food, from vegetable soup to chocolate cake. They are also trained in safety, sanitation, food storage, basic menu planning, and budgeting.
