Description
Plastic mould design draftspeople draw plans for templates and patterns, plastic moulds, and tooling for mould-making and modifications. They develop and prepare engineering drawings from preliminary concepts, sketches, calculations, specification sheets, and other data. They use computer-aided design and graphics drafting stations to complete their plans.

Certification Requirements
  • The Draftsperson – Plastic Mould Design apprenticeship consists of 7,400 hours of on-the-job training.
  • Apprentices must also complete 600 hours of in-class technical training.
  • Once you have successfully completed the apprenticeship requirements, you receive a Certificate of Apprenticeship and are certified as a journeyperson in the trade.
  • A person with at least 8,000 hours of related work experience is eligible to apply for a Trade Equivalency Assessment (TEA) and, if successful, becomes certified as a journeyperson in this trade.

Educational Prerequisites
Grade 12 or equivalent.
