Young Women's

The Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program is a proud supporter of the Skills Ontario Young Women's Networking Dinners.   Times are changing as more and more women choose "non-traditional" careers, such as Automotive Service Technician, Industrial Mechanic Millwright, Welder, Nuclear Operator and Information Technology Technician.

Networking Dinners are an exciting opportunity for young women in grades 9-12 to explore careers in the trades and technology sectors and to network with female tradeswomen in their local community.

To become a mentor at a dinner please contact the OYAP office or Skills Ontario.

Students interested in participating should contact their secondary school Cooperative Education Department.

The next Young Women's Networking Dinner will be held in Port Elgin on November 6, 2012.

The Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program is also a proud supporter of the Young Women's Conference, held annually each May during the Skills Ontario Competitions.  The event allows female students in grade 9 and 10 the chance to meet successful women from many sectors of the trades and technology fields and to discover first hand the many opportunities available to them post-graduation.

For more information on particpating in this event contact your secondary school Guidance Department.

The next Young Women's Conference will be Tuesday May 7, 2013, Kitchener.
